Fade's Chalenges - postwork 1

It has been months since I last set a challenge, so in light of this I thought we could look at some postwork, this is to chalenge you by making softer/painted look after you have rendered.

I know there are many many ways to do this, however this is one of the simplest ways for those of you who are not sure how to do it or for those who have never tried.

Whatever programe you use to do your postwork in the majority of them have a BLUR AND SMUDGE TOOL (2 seperate tools) I have uploaded an image that is half postworked in this manor and when you zoom into it you will see parts have been completed and other parts only have the blur effect. The background has no effect at all.

1. Use the magic wand tool (or other simular) or even trace around the parts you need to blur, click on blur to however deep the bluring you require.

2. Use the smudge tool now to go over the patches of blur, smudge out the edging so it looks painted. you will need to have your image realy zoomed in for this bit .



This is the image I am working on to give you an example. Reubens face and top wing have been fully postworked but as you will see his body and main wing have only been blurred. YOu wil notice that the fur on his face looks more realistic and the top wing looks more softer.

This started life as a close up PHOTOGRAPH of my freinds cat taken with my mobile camera I used the same process to turn the photograph into a painted look image.
